A haptic quality without invitation nor guidance of how to…
Spontaneity carries with it the principle that a work can be finished in its unfixed state. In colourless terminology; it is the adding, subtracting and rearrangement of the piece(s.) The enthralling aspect to its very nature is that it is unknown what external factor will have influence for the condition it is in at the day’s end. That is the making.
Humour is the ring-leader. Although the artist is serious about the work; the work itself is not serious. The day to day, the dirty hilarity of the hum-drum. And the surrealism of it all. How one you make plasticine look funny. That is the inspiration.
Mature enough to indicate artistry but unprofessional in the sense that it cannot be related to a truth, movement or an argument. The work is continually distancing itself into the sub-conscious. It brings great enjoyment and an understanding that self-expression should be simple. That is the reason.
Someone with a weak watercolour backbone. What could be considered naivety is a purposed action of involving humble materials. Art-provera esk, but humbler! Think toothpaste. Think plasticine. Think packaging for your new Ipad. That is the artist.
